The Wisconsin Watercolor Society was founded in 1952 by a group of Wisconsin artists. It was the first Wisconsin art organization to be devoted exclusively to watercolor painting. Its purpose now as then has always been to demonstrate and exhibit meaningful development in the medium of watercolor and to serve as a catalyst for those genuinely interested in watercolor.

Artist’s Statement

The Arts have always been an integral part of my life. Involved in many different aspects of the Arts, I’ve served as Advertising Director, Docent, Gallery Manager, Juror, Art Installer and Collector.

Working with other artists and art organizations, exchanging ideas, and having the opportunity to exhibit has been very fulfilling. Of all the art forms I find the most pleasure exploring the watercolor medium. My subject matter reflects my love of nature, the Midwest landscape and travels to France and Italy. Plein air painting has helped me discover the amazing palette and sunlit colors of the outdoor landscape. Artists who have been an inspiration in my work are John Singer Sargent, Winslow Homer, Eliot O’Hara and Charles Burchfield.
