Robert has painted watercolors since 1978. He has been a member of the Milwaukee Sketch Club, the Wauwatosa Artists Workshop and the Wisconsin Watercolor Society. He has studied with many watercolor artists including Phil Austin, Irving Shapiro, Catherine Wilson Smith, and others.

Despite bugs, wind, weather and changing light, Bob prefers painting out-of-doors with the subject right there in front of him. The subjects are generally favorite Wisconsin scenes and the fishing boats along the Mississippi Gulf coast.
