I began painting with watercolor in 2004 when I was introduced to the medium in a studio art course at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I found it so enjoyable that I now work exclusively with watercolor. I adore its gentle nature and find that it lends itself very well to the sort of imagery that I create.

I try to capture moments and memories through my paintings. I enjoy the way in which art allows me to present the elements of a memory that are important to me and to edit out those that are not. An expression, a slight smile, a glimpse of a personality; these are the aspects that I am interested in. I try to capture these simple aspects and let them tell the rest of the story.
