The Wisconsin Watercolor Society was founded in 1952 by a group of Wisconsin artists. It was the first Wisconsin art organization to be devoted exclusively to watercolor painting. Its purpose now as then has always been to demonstrate and exhibit meaningful development in the medium of watercolor and to serve as a catalyst for those genuinely interested in watercolor.

Artist Biography

A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Shelby has been painting and drawing since she was a child. She has expressed herself in various media over the years including painting, computer graphics, poetry, and photography. While experimenting in many different aspects of art, watercolor has always been her medium of choice and a lifelong interest. She enjoys looking at the smallest of details in life, putting them on paper, and thinking of unusual ways to express a feeling or mood.

Shelby is currently studying with Jean Crane in Cedarburg and is a member of the Cedarburg Artist’s Guild, The Museum of Wisconsin Art, The Plymouth Art Center and the Wisconsin Watercolor Society. Her work has been exhibited in juried shows and various galleries in Wisconsin. Shelby looks forward to many more years of seeing the world through the eyes of a painter.
