The Wisconsin Watercolor Society was founded in 1952 by a group of Wisconsin artists. It was the first Wisconsin art organization to be devoted exclusively to watercolor painting. Its purpose now as then has always been to demonstrate and exhibit meaningful development in the medium of watercolor and to serve as a catalyst for those genuinely interested in watercolor.

Joyce Eesley

Born in Michigan and educated at Northern Michigan University and Alverno College (BA in Art Education), I am a retired educator now working as a full-time artist. A signature member of the Philadelphia Watercolor Society and Wisconsin Watercolor Society, I am also affiliated with several national and regional art organizations, with work exhibited in juried shows and held in both museum and private collections across the United States. While I enjoy a range of media, I am particularly drawn to watercolor and graphite, creating detailed still lifes inspired by everyday objects and the influence of Dutch masters and Albrecht Dürer. Working primarily on 140lb. Arches cold press paper with a limited palette of six transparent pigments, I build luminous, layered compositions through glazing techniques that emphasize depth, contrast, and color variation. My practice is rooted in continual growth and exploration, and I also share my experience through critiques, demonstrations, and workshops for fellow artists.
