The Wisconsin Watercolor Society was founded in 1952 by a group of Wisconsin artists. It was the first Wisconsin art organization to be devoted exclusively to watercolor painting. Its purpose now as then has always been to demonstrate and exhibit meaningful development in the medium of watercolor and to serve as a catalyst for those genuinely interested in watercolor.

Artist Statement

My objective as an artist is to create pleasing, well-rendered yet original artwork primarily in transparent watercolor technique sometimes combined with other media. I depend on strong drawing skills and traditional art training. From this foundation, I try to create special effects and moods through manipulation of media and composition. I am drawn to a large variety of subjects and enjoy rendering the subject as well as experimenting with different characteristics of this media that make each application unique. I have a special interest is portraiture, capturing the physical likeness and the personality of the subject, a real challenge in any media particularly watercolor.
