The Wisconsin Watercolor Society was founded in 1952 by a group of Wisconsin artists. It was the first Wisconsin art organization to be devoted exclusively to watercolor painting. Its purpose now as then has always been to demonstrate and exhibit meaningful development in the medium of watercolor and to serve as a catalyst for those genuinely interested in watercolor.

Artist Statement

Transparent watercolor is my medium of choice and the “pouring” of watercolor paint is my passion. Pouring is the process of multiple layers of paint being poured onto a painting which is allowed to dry between layers. A masking fluid is used to cover and retain lighter areas while each additional ‘pour’ is of darker values. One works from light to dark, capturing the different values in each subject. It resembles a print making process. A number of my paintings have been accepted into the Watercolor WI Shows over the years and received awards.

Today I am exploring my own creativity and love the journey I am on. I have a love for abstract art as well as representational subjects. Many of my paintings resemble abstract realism.
